As a child I hated reading. Having to choose books from the school library for reading, I found some type of fantasy story; it had a fairytalish vibe. I couldn’t get enough of it and checked it out again and again. As an adult I still would rather read and write fantasy. Real life is hard and sometimes quite painful. If I’m going to read for entertainment, I want a whole lot of imagination instead of everyday reality, happily ever after instead of sadness, and lots of laughter.
The picture above is where I am standing at the old Frostville Schoolhouse from my book Marry Christmas. The locations in the book are real but the story is fiction.
My writing style is sweet romance/fantasy/cozy mystery and supernatural thrillers. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined . . .” Even God enjoyed using his imagination. He used a donkey to speak in human language. If that isn’t imagination, I don’t know what is. It would be fun to coauthor a book with him. Let our imagination soar where reality is prorogued and imagination takes over. I also love how C.S. Lewis used imagination in the telling of his stories.
I live in S.W. Florida. Three children and eight grandchildren, two cats: Sprinkle Dinkle & Skittle Wittle. I drive a firefighter pink convertible Mini Cooper in honor of my late husband.
I am very grateful to Nancy and staff at Melange Books. They give authors a chance to get their stories out in their own voices. The cover designs are always done so elegantly. I love all my book covers. Constructive criticism is not fun, and you get plenty of it writing, but Melange staff have helped me want to be a better writer. I can’t say enough good things about them. They offer something for every reader’s taste.
